Program Description
New Parent Support (NPS) offers parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 supportive services that focus on the health and mental health of the family. Services include home visiting, case managment, and counseling. The primary goal of the home visitation program is to provide support, information, and education to parents with children ages 0-5 to promote positive parenting, healthy child development and increased utilization of existing preventive health and social services. In addition to support, the New Parent Support provides post partum depression screening, psycho-educational information about parenting, lactation, infant development, post partum depression, child care, sleep training, natural learning abilities assessments, community resources and making the transition from partnership to parenthood. Throughout the year, NPS offers workshops on issues related to parenting children ages 0-5.
Eligibility
Families with children ages 0-5 residing in the county of Alameda with full scope Medi-Cal are eligible for home visitation from a mental health provider. All groups and parent education programs held in the office are open to Alameda County families with children 0-5 for a fee, no one will be turned away for inability to pay.
